The Ultravox Website Revamp Is Complete.

The official Ultravox website has undergone a wide-ranging transformation including a choice between six album themes, which the site will retain until you choose a different one (or until you clear your browser cookies), consistent navigation throughout, a media archive where you can send electronic postcards of any image to anyone, and a rotating selection of classic band quotes. What are you waiting for, go check it out!

"When Midge first sang it at rehearsals, I thought, what is he going on about, singing about bloody Vienna?" - Billy Currie, 1980

New Ultravox Album Confirmed.

From ultravox.org.uk: We are delighted to announce that following Ultravox's return to the live arena in 2009/10 with their successful Return to Eden tour, that they have recently signed a deal with Universal Records. A natural progression from the reformation that was a celebration of their 30th anniversary, the band have been working on new material for an album since Autumn 2010, which is now nearing completion.

"We've had such a great time performing our old songs over the last two years that we just didn't want it to end! There's an immense satisfaction in looking across the stage and seeing those familiar faces playing the songs that we wrote as a unit. When we sat down to attempt to write some new songs we found that the ideas just kept coming and so a new album became not just inevitable, but something we really wanted to do together. Once again the whole has proved to be greater than the sum of the parts."

The classic Ultravox line-up of Chris Cross, Warren Cann, Midge Ure, and Billy Currie came together in 2009 for the first time since performing at Live Aid in 1985 for their highly successful Return to Eden Tour.

It is this incarnation that gave us the albums Vienna, Rage in Eden, Quartet, and Lament. Lament was the last album to feature the current line-up of the band.

In a guardian.co.uk article last Saturday Midge Ure says the biggest mistake he made was walking away from Ultravox in 1985.

Ultravox To Begin Second Leg Of Their Comeback Tour.

Following their 2009 reunion, Ultravox will hit the road again this month "to present the Return To Eden Part II tour. Rumored to be the last Ultravox tour - this follows amazing fan reaction, a string of sell out venues last year (including two London shows) phenomenal public demand, very high critical acclaim and stellar reviews from the media. The band will perform six shows across the UK with more to follow in the form of a six date German tour and additional dates throughout the rest of Europe - tickets for the events are selling fast."

Ultravox's 2009 live album Ultravox Live at the Roundhouse will get a UK release on Apr. 5 on EMI "in two formats: a DVD + 2CD Special Edition containing the full 18 track live performance in both audio and video, plus a 39 minute 'Building Eden' reformation documentary, and a 13 track highlights CD (audio only)."

Ultravox is currently their classic line-up of Warren Cann, Chris Cross, Billy Currie, and Midge Ure.

A Finger Points To Show A Scene.

Ultravox are set to release double disc editions of their classic albums Quartet and Monument next week.

Monument "was originally released as a six-track mini-album and a live VHS and the new CD/DVD edition features both releases, plus a fanclub-only release of 'The Voice' and three more bonus tracks, including a previously unreleased track. Quartet will be released as a 2-CD album featuring a remastered edition of the original album plus a bonus disc of thirteen live, remixed and rare tracks."

Quartet was the sixth Ultravox album, and the third with Midge Ure. The album was produced by George Martin and was "backed by Ultravox's huge Monument Tour, which itself was recorded and released in album format a year later in 1983."

Monument was recorded at London's Hammersmith Odeon. The re-issue is expanded, containing all of the songs from the original video. Generally, the "most appreciated performances" from Monument are "Reap The Wild Wind," "The Voice," and "Vienna."

Ultravox To Reunite.

The classic Ultravox line-up (Warren Cann, Chris Cross, Billy Currie, Midge Ure) are coming together for the first time since performing at Live Aid in 1985 for a UK Ultravox reunion tour.

The Return to Eden Tour begins Apr. 10, 2009, at the Edinburgh Playhouse in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Ultravox, originally known as Tiger Lily, was formed in 1973 by Dennis Leigh (later to become John Foxx). The band had two major periods, 1973-1979, and 1980-1986. The initial line-up comprised Leigh, Cross, Stevie Shears on guitar, Cann, and Currie.

In 1978, Stevie Shears left the band and was replaced by Robert (Robin) Simon. Foxx left in 1979 and was replaced by Ure, who joined the band as vocalist and guitarist. Simon left shortly thereafter. It is this incarnation that gave us the albums Vienna, Rage in Eden, Quartet, and Lament. Quartet delivered the magnificent "Reap the Wild Wind," and Lament gave us the Waist High favorite "White China," and the 1984 single "Dancing with Tears in My Eyes," about the fear of the possibility of a nuclear power plant meltdown. Lament was the last album to feature the "classic" line-up of the band.
