Some Depeche Mode Fans A Little Poorer This Week.

By all accounts COLLECTED - The Alan Wilder/Depeche Mode Collection auction was a complete success! More than 400 historic items went up for sale in Manchester over the weekend as Alan Wilder sold a large selection of his music equipment and memorabilia at an auction at the Zion Arts Centre.

From Recoil: Many items were very collectable and held special value having been used extensively in the recording sessions for classic Depeche Mode & Recoil albums, as well as live performances on the Black Celebration, Music For The Masses, World Violation and Devotional tours. Focusing mainly on the years between 1982 & 1995, this was one of the most exciting career sales ever to hit the public domain.

There were around 150 people in the room in Manchester, and 600 registered online from countries across the globe, all bidding for the 422 lots of which 98% were sold. 87% of the items were won by internet bidders.

For a detailed report of the two days in Manchester, read Sideline’s report here and for the complete list of final prices paid for items go here.

All Four Parts of Alan Wilder – Collected Now Live.

The fourth and final installment of Alan Wilder - Collected is now up at the Recoil Blog where you can get a sneak peek at some of the 400+ items soon to be up for sale from The Alan Wilder/Depeche Mode Collection - a historic memorabilia, equipment and vinyl auction which is set to be held Sept. 2 & 3 at the Zion Arts Centre in Manchester.

Alan Wilder - Collected was filmed at Wilder's Sussex home where director Martin Vladar discovered Wilder had kept "memorabilia spanning 35 years of a career spent in music, most notably during the 80s and 90s covering the musician’s stint with one of the most famous & successful bands of all time, Depeche Mode."

A must see for any DM fan, and the highlight of Collected for us here at Waist High, comes in part four when Alan gets out his old EMAX Sampler after 24 years and begins getting re-acquainted with it and plays, among other things, the riff from "Black Celebration," and the beginning of "Pipeline." In a word - fuckingawesome.

The full Collected auction details and catalogue can be found here.
