The Education Continues.

Desi: "I'm goin' crazy. You don't know how long it's been since I've had it."
Waist High: (Look of horror)
Desi: "I'm getting desperate. I might have to start brown bagging it."
Waist High: "What the fuck is that?"
Desi: "Put a bag over her head. Cut out holes for her eyes and mouth."
Waist High: (Look of horror)
Desi: "Cause at this point, I don't care if she has an ugly face. Just as long as her body is smokin."
Waist High: (Look of horror)
Desi: "You look horrified."
Waist High: "No, nothing you say horrifies me. You are the one who told me about 'Dog in a Bathtub' and the 'Jelly Donut.'"
Waist High: "And 'The Dirty Sanchez.'"
Waist High: "And 'Tea Bagging.'"
Waist High: "And 'The Shocker' you scumbag."
Desi: (Look of horror)
Waist High: (Look of horror)
Desi: "What about this. I could wrap a flag around her head, go to town on her and say I did it for my country."

World's first beer health spa opens in Czech

A family brewery in the Czech Republic has opened the world's first beer health centre in its cellar. The Chodovar Family brewery in Chodova Plana offers beer baths, beer massages and beer cosmetics.

The cellar has seven huge Victorian style baths where visitors can swim in beer while enjoying a pint poured at a bathside bar.

"Beer can treat a range of conditions, particularly skin conditions, and the health centre should appeal to men who are put off by 'posh' traditional spas. I have heard of some places in other countries where people can swim in beer but it's just a gimmick. We believe in the healing properties of beer and we offer the full range of treatments. We are a fully-fledged beer spa," Ananova quoted Jiri Plevka, the owner as saying.

The guests are charged 80 pounds for weekend packages, and can indulge in a range of health treatments including beer wraps, starting at 12 pounds per session.

We Love Our Damn Kids.

First, check out the best horrible parent link to Waist High this week, or ever. Second, just know that my co-worker has a daughter too:

Waist High: "So what do you get your child for their 18th birthday? Any ideas?"
Co-Worker: "Oh that's right, she's turning 18. (Long pause...) A carton of cigarettes."

Happy Birthday Roland Orzabal.

Waist High favorite Roland Orzabal's first band Graduate was formed with teenage friend Curt Smith and drew on the major influences of the time, including The Jam and Elvis Costello. By 1981 Orzabal and Smith wanted to focus on emulating other artists, including Talking Heads and Brian Eno. They departed from Graduate and formed a band called The History of Headaches, a moniker which was quickly changed to Tears For Fears.

Tears for Fears were signed to Phonogram Records in 1981. Their first single as Tears for Fears, "Suffer the Children," was released in November 1981, followed by the first edition of "Pale Shelter" in March 1982. The success came with their third single "Mad World," which hit #3 in the UK in December 1982. Their first album, The Hurting, was released in March 1983.

The album showcased synthesizer-based songs with lyrics reflecting Orzabal's bitter childhood and upbringing. The Hurting can be considered TFF's only true concept album, as references to emotional distress and primal therapy are found in nearly every song. The album itself charted at #1 in the UK - where it had a lengthy run - and yielded the international hit singles "Mad World," "Change," and a re-recorded "Pale Shelter."

In 1985 Orzabal and Smith left their preoccupation with pop psychology behind and turned their attention to the global politics of the Reagan-Thatcher era. The album that resulted, Songs from the Big Chair, was a massive success on both sides of the Atlantic and yielded the hit singles "Mothers Talk," "Shout," (#1 in the U.S.) "Everybody Wants to Rule the World," (the biggest UK hit at #2 and another #1 in the U.S.) "Head Over Heels," and "I Believe."

It was 1989 before the group released its third album, The Seeds of Love, after which, Orzabal and Smith had an extremely acrimonious falling out. The split was ultimately blamed on Orzabal's intricate but frustrating approach to production and Smith's distaste for the pop music world. Smith had also been deeply affected by the breakdown of his marriage.

In 1993, Orzabal recorded the album Elemental together with longtime co-collaborator Alan Griffiths, and released it under the Tears for Fears moniker. Despite being regarded by some faithful as "an album without Smith," many found the album to be an enjoyable blend of good songwriting and creative sampling. The singles "Cold," "Elemental," "Goodnight Song," and "Break It Down Again," had some chart success on both sides of the Atlantic.

Orzabal and Griffiths released another Tears for Fears album in 1995, the Waist High favorite Raoul and the Kings of Spain, a more quiet and contemplative work that showed a new Latin musical influence.

Orzabal reteamed with Griffiths and recorded the album Tomcats Screaming Outside, released on Eagle Records as a solo project, under his own name. The album had the unfortunate coincidence to be released on Sept. 11, 2001.

In 2001 also, routine paperwork obligations led to Orzabal and Smith's first conversation in over a decade. The two patched up their differences and Orzabal flew to Smith's home in Los Angeles for what they assumed would be a hesitant attempt at songwriting. The ensuing album, Everybody Loves a Happy Ending was released in 2004.

The legacy of Tears For Fears re-emerged with some surprise when a haunting piano cover of their debut hit "Mad World," performed by Michael Andrews and Gary Jules, reached the coveted UK Number 1 spot for Christmas 2003.

Despite chart-topping success in the USA, Tears For Fears had yet to reach the top spot in their native country, and the cover marked "their" first Number 1.

You Have Angered Me And This Woman Mr. Kelley.

Bakersfield, Calif. -- West High School staffer accused of bringing firearm onto campus

A West High School employee was arrested on campus earlier this month on suspicion of spousal battery and bringing a gun on school grounds.

Danny Kelley, 40, had an unloaded gun in his car at West High School on Aug. 7, Bakersfield police Detective Greg Terry said. The gun belonged to a relative, but bringing it to school resulted in a felony charge of bringing a gun to a public school.

Kern County Superior Court's Web site lists a felony charge of carrying a loaded gun without registration against Kelley, but Terry said officers reported that the gun was not loaded. Kelley was also charged with misdemeanor spousal battery, according to court records.

Police received a call from Kelley's residence reporting a domestic dispute at 6 a.m. on Aug. 7, Terry said. Officers took him into custody later that morning at the school.

Kelley, a maintenance worker at the school, had made threats to harm his wife or have someone else harm her, Terry said. The domestic dispute involved physical contact, but no one was injured.

Some students were on campus for athletic programs when Kelley was arrested. No threats were made against students or school personnel, Terry said.

Kelley is scheduled to have an arraignment hearing Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.

Dentist Puts Gold Teeth on Pet Cat

This cool cat has traded in his catnip for some bling. Sebastian, a one-year-old Persian with long black hair, sports gold crowns on his two bottom canines, which grew sticking out from his lips in an underbite similar to a bulldog's.

His owner, dentist David Steele, said he gave Sebastian gold crowns to help strengthen the fanged feline's teeth. Steele said he was worried the unique canines would break off or become a problem.

"It's possible to work on animals the same way we do humans," he said. "I did it to strengthen (Sebastian's) teeth, but it had an excellent cosmetic result. The cat gets a lot of attention now. Everyone is tickled to death when they see him."

Sebastian's two gold teeth protruding from his furry face make him seem a little menacing, like a hip-hop star's guard-cat or a movie villain's pet. The feline didn't seem too happy with his new look at first.

"He's normally around me all the time," Steele said. "After I put the crowns on, he didn't 'speak' to me for two days."

When Sebastian was tranquilized about a month ago to get his coat trimmed, Steele used the occasion to take impressions of his teeth. He then sent those impressions to a company that prepares crowns for his human patients.

"They called back and asked me what I was up to," Steele said.

Two weeks ago, veterinarian Larry Owen tranquilized the cat at the Alexandria Animal Hospital about 30 miles northeast of Indianapolis so Steele could do the dentistry work, which took about 15 minutes to complete.

Owen said putting gold crowns on teeth can be done for any pet with a dental problem.

"Mostly, though, it was a fun thing to do," Owen said. "(Steele is) always up to something or trying something new."

Steele said he has put a crown on a cat once before, after the animal was hit by a car. He also put a gold crown on his Boston terrier.

Steele said the cost for each gold tooth is about the same as for humans - about $900 each.

Driver finishes beer after ramming Queens man, 62

Some people just don't know when to say when. After slamming his van into a 62-year-old man early yesterday, Antonio Rosas greeted cops by finishing his can of Coors Light, authorities said.

Rosas, 33, had a .272 blood alcohol level - more than three times the legal limit - when he hit Edgardo Pizarro at 1 a.m. on Roosevelt Ave. in Corona, Queens, sending him flying over his Chevrolet van. "The nerve of this guy, I would have just smacked that beer out of his hand," said Pizzaro's daughter, Audra Cabarcas.

Pizzaro, a Manhattan doorman who retired 10 years ago to care for his elderly mother, was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center with a fractured back, pelvis, forearm and severe head injuries. "My dad said he didn't see him coming...He just crossed the street and all he remembers is a boom and he was on the floor," said Cabarcas. "How could he [Rosas] even do that? Unbelievable."

Cops saw Rosas weaving over a double yellow line just before he hit Pizzaro. Rosas was pulled over minutes later, law enforcement sources said.

After downing his beer, he was asked for a driver's license but didn't have one, prosecutors said. He also stunk of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech, and was unsteady on his feet.

Rosas, a construction worker, is facing up to 25 years if convicted of drunken driving and numerous other charges.

Extra Finger Leads To Arrest

SALEM, Ore. -- An extra digit helped police finger their man earlier this week in Salem. Officers responded Tuesday to suspicious activity at 476 Vista Ave. S.E. A search of the house reportedly turned up 16.5 grams of methamphetamine, heroin residue, scales, packaging supplies and user materials.

Bruce Lane Parker, 47, and Serena Ruth Bacon, 31, were arrested on several charges.

When questioned by police, a third suspect allegedly used his brother's name and birth date. But a check of the brother's criminal history revealed that he has just nine fingers. The man in custody had 10.

When confronted about the extra finger, 46-year-old Kenneth Shannon McPherson gave up his true identity. He was arrested on several charges, including four warrants for previous drug charges.

Bacon's 9-year-old daughter was taken into protective custody.
