Dexys Back In The Studio After 26 Years.

Dexys Midnight Runners, who now go by the name Dexys, have announced via their newly-created Twitter account that they are working on a new album, their first since 1985's Don't Stand Me Down.

According to Dexys Official the current lineup of the band is singer Kevin Rowland, original Dexys Midnight Runners bassist Pete Williams, guitarist Neil Hubbard, and ex-Style Council keyboardist Mick Talbot (who left Dexys Midnight Runners in 1980).

Of the new album, which is expected to be released in 2012, the band tweeted yesterday: "Taking nothing for granted and not getting carried away, there's a fair way to go."

Talking about the inclusion of the great Mick Talbot in the band, Rowland said: "Mick Talbot is a huge part of this, not just his playing, he's influential in the whole of this process. Commitment beyond the call of duty."

Dexys Midnight Runners formed in 1978.
