Thomas Dolby To Release Singular.

The CD+DVD career retrospective will feature digitally remastered versions of all the Thomas Dolby greats, in chronological order, and will be released May 18 on EMI.

The Singular Thomas Dolby is set to be followed by remastered versions of 1982's The Golden Age of Wireless, and 1984's The Flat Earth.

Little known fact about the Waist High staff favorite Thomas Dolby is that he was the man behind the distinctive synthesizer sound on "Urgent" from Foreigner's 1981 album 4, and on the same album contributed the lush intro to "Waiting For A Girl Like You." The money earned from those endeavors helped to finance
The Golden Age Of Wireless.

"You Make Me Feel Like I Am Young Again."

Currently in the grips of the NBA playoffs with her beloved Portland Trailblazers trailing 2-1 behind The Houston Rockets, and apparently unable to do anything else, Waist High would like to at least say THANK YOU to the blessed soul that sent me a copy of all of the songs from KROQ's annual 106.7 song countdown, years 1980-1989. Disregarding the 106.7th song of 1980, the "KROQ Theme," the songs begin with "Everything Works If You Let It" by Cheap Trick and end with the #1 song of 1989, The Cure's "Love Song."

From one mélomane to another, I honor you.

Portland Loses Radio Icon Les Sarnoff.

KINK FM legend Les Sarnoff passed away Friday evening at Providence Cancer Center in Portland, Oregon after a courageous and inspiring battle with cancer.

"There is perhaps no single person more associated with any radio station than Les is with KINK. His professional contributions over his 30 year association with the station are inestimable. His style and attitude personified a great radio station, perhaps the most significant thread through KINK’s history. He has meant so much to so many with his positive energy, generous spirit and his warm and open presence."

Les started working evenings at KINK in 1977 and hosted the station's morning show for more than two decades.

"Good Times Come To Me Now."

What kind of new wave music blogger never blogs?

In what can only be described as the most sorrowful 6 weeks of our lives, Waist High and Co. are ready for new beginnings. New beginnings summed up so beautifully for us by long time friend FF, whose wish for us is, "Spring will be a time of renewal for your family, and that the rest of 2009 brings only great cheer, joy, and happiness to all of you."

Exactly one day after a Memorial Service for BOTH my grandparents on Mar. 22, our constant companion, the Waist High family pet Bernie, passed peacefully away.

Bernie was a gift to My Lovely 20 Year Old Daughter in 1997 when he was just 6 weeks old. He had a long and wonderful stay here on this earth, and was the absolute love of our lives. It goes without saying that our hearts are broken, and he will be forever missed. My Lovely 20 Year Old Daughter was with him when he passed, I was not as brave.

During this very heartbreaking time for us many lessons have been learned, and we come away from these experiences better human beings. We take away gifts that can only be received in times of overwhelming grief. We now know how short life really is, and how we only have a certain amount of time with those that we love. We also have been reminded that there is no more important task that we have while on this earth than to cherish those that are important to us.

It's been the little things that have made us at least start to feel better, and my fresh from Belgium personalized copy of My Boyfriend is a Twat is one such thing. A long-time favorite here at WH,
My Boyfriend is a Twat has been voted "Best European Blog For Three Years Running - Bloggies 2005, 2006 and 2007," and it seems the pressure is on for her to make me feel better. No worries Zoe.

For all of your new wave music needs please visit my friend the great Richard Evans at
Remember the Eighties, and he will take good care of you until our return.

To Dorothy Goodrum, Donald Goodrum, and Bernie Charles; Goodbye only for now.

"To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die."

Bernie (1997-2009).

Waist High would like to say a public goodbye to her constant companion of the last 12 years, family pet Bernard Charles, who passed peacefully away on Mar. 23, 2009. Bernie was a gift to My Lovely Teenaged (now 20 years old) Daughter in 1997 when he was just 6 weeks old and I was fortunate enough to inherit him when she moved away.

Bernie had a long and wonderful stay here on this earth, and was the absolute love of our lives. It goes without saying that our hearts are broken and he will be forever missed. My Lovely 20 Year Old Daughter was with Bernie when he passed. I was not as brave.

We cannot see Beyond
But this I know
I loved you so-
'Twas heaven here with you.
