Happy 25th Birthday "Suddenly Last Summer."

Released on a 7" single in September of 1983, backed with "Some Things Never Change," "Suddenly Last Summer" reached #1 in the US.

Motels lead singer Martha Davis has said in various radio interviews that the song was written while reflecting on her life and how you know summer is ending when you hear the ice cream truck go by for the last time and you know he won't be back for a while. She also has stated the song is about losing one's virginity.

The song has the distinction of being the only Motels song to reach the #1 position on any music chart. Two bootleg dance versions have been made of the song, one with a techno-like dance beat and another with a semi-tropical beat to it.

Martha Davis currently lives in Portland Oregon. Hi Martha.
